Decks and porches provide the transition places between inside and out dictated by an elevation change or a need for overhead cover. Porches are the primary meet and greet spaces in the landscape. They should be inviting, provide for a prospect of those coming and going, a view to the community and surrounding nature, and should be a place for “sitting” as you talk with neighbors or just watch the world go by.
Decks may also be a great choice based on site constraints, design considerations, or personal preference. Wood materials may also better match the style of the home.
